Reading through the past

We logged back on to this jewel of fun memories looking for Charlie's height at two years. We have yet to find what we are looking for, but the journey down memory lane sure has been fun!

This past Friday was Christopher's 8th birthday. We had dinner with GG and the cake and ice cream with Grammie and Grandpa.

To finish off the birthday festivities we had a movie night at a friend's house. Chris invited a few friends to join us and we overdosed on sugar and watched The Incredibles.

Happy Birthday my Christopher!

Out of the Mouth of Charlie

Dave: Charlie, please finish your cereal.
Charlie: I'm just done. My tummy says it's full.

(2 minutes later, after Dave has cleaned up breakfast)

Charlie: (pointing to the chocolate candy Sultan gave him yesterday) Daddy, can I have a treat?
Dave: You just told me your tummy is full.
Charlie: But that will help my tummy get un-full!

OC Fair

This year the OCTA is offering a fair express bus for $1.50 each way with a discount coupon to get into the fair for $2.  It is a pretty sweet deal and the bus is pretty convenient.  We decided that we would go since the boys were free and Dave could ride the bud for free with his student ID.  Which made our trip to the fair $7!  That's how much it costs to just park your car at the fair.

Well, we had a lot of fun at the fair.  We spent most of our time just walking around and enjoying the sights.  We did see the hypnotist show and we went and checked out some of the farm animals.

We plan on going back and checking out some that fried food.  Well, at least not the deep fried butter or the deep fried bacon, or the chocolate covered corn dogs, or the deep fried kool-aid.  Hmmm...I wonder what we will try?  Maybe the funnel cakes or the deep fried klondike bars?  I wonder how many biodiesel cars they could support off of a one month fair of fried food?

We did not buy any food at the fair.  Maybe next time.  We snuck in our much healthier El Pollo Loco instead. :)

We also played Sierra Mist mini golf.  The boys love mini golf since we went over Memorial Day weekend with my parents and brother.

It was definitely fun enough to go a second time. :)

Fourth of July

The Fourth of July started off early.  Dave and I participated in the Lake Forest Firecracker 5k Run.  I can't say we ran in it because Dave ran and I jogged/walked.  One of these days I will get my body up to 3 miles of continuous running.  I am still at only 1.5 miles.  It was still a lot of fun.  Dave finished in 22 minutes and I finished in 41 minutes (which is still a personal best for me by 4 minutes).  The person who did win the 5k completed it with a mile pace of 5 minutes and 50 seconds, which translates to about 18 minutes for the whole 3.1 miles.  That is totally wild.

After the 5k we "ran" home to get the boys and headed over to the ward pancake breakfast.  There is nothing like some heavy pancakes and sausage after an early morning run.  We enjoyed the company and had some fun before heading back home to go to the always exciting Lake Forest 4th of July Parade.  The boys seemed to really enjoy it.  They especially like the fire engine, the trash truck, and the candy that the parade participants would throw.

After the parade we headed home for lunch and some nap time for Chris.  Later that afternoon we headed out to the Mission Viejo Street Fair, Red Robin for dinner, and the Lake Forest club for fire works.
